Once I arrived home my elder son greeted me with “Ummi, can I have a facebook?”. Honestly, it’s surprised me that my eight and a half years old son knew facebook and even want to have one. Calming myself I asked him “what for honey?.” He answered my question by saying, “my friends were already have one” and he named his friends loud and clear to my ear. “Well, OK then. You have my permit ion. Now, you have to ask abi’s” I said. Without any delay he rang my husband cell phone and said,” Assalamualaikum abi. Bi, can I have a facebook?” barely I could hear my husband asked my son about me and my son answered,”Ummi had already given me a permit ion.” I didn’t know what else they’re talking about. I’s heading to my bathroom to clean myself when they hang up.
A few seconds later, I’s knocked. “Ummi, abi’s OK. Can I create now?” he said impatiently. Uppss…that’s it. Just like usual, when he wanted something then he wanted right away. “OK, let me finish here. I’ll be there in a minutes.”
After get dressed I went to the living room and saw my husband laptop had already set up. Later I know that my son turned it on and install the modem during my absent. I just smiled to his behave. “OK, let’s try” I said. He’s so enthusiast of what we’re doing. I opened the browser and typed http://www.facebook.com. Started to create an account and explained to my son the menu.
Tet tot!! Problem #1: he didn’t have an email account so that we had to create one. I explained to my son about it. He nodded and said, “let’s created it.” I figured out what account to create. Instantly I chose to create a free yahoo mail. I opened new tab and typed http://www.yahoo.com, started to create an email account. Filled the form and answered all my son questions then submitting the form.
Tet tot!! Problem #2: he’s too young to have an email account. I explained to him about it. He looked so upset and went to bed.
Feeling sleepy I exit the browser, disconnected the internet and turned off the laptop. There’s a kind of relieved that we didn’t succeed. Actually I was a little bit worried and unsure about the idea. That’s it, it’s over-full stop.
A few days later, after my dinner, he asked me again about the facebook.
Weeks later he asked me again about the facebook.
And now, months later, he asks me again about the facebook. What can I say? I give him the fact that he’s too young to have one. Promptly he give me the idea to manipulate his year of birth. @#&$???...!!!
